Kamaishi is one of the places in Japan that is unknown to foreigners although many have seen images of the Pacific Ocean swallowing this city. By visiting Kamaishi in Iwate Prefecture, you will be able to experience the true feeling of Japan where nature and tradition are intertwined. Kamaishi is entirely within the Sanriku Fukko National Park. There are many attractions in Kamaishi that vary compare to other parts of Japan. For example, while in this fishing town, places to visit are the Iron History Museum of Japan, the famous Tesu Monument and the deity Kannon, the scenic ocean view of Sakauoboru, Yakushi Koen trail, and of course the many restaurants in town that offer delicious cultural dishes from sashimi to ramen.
